I was educated at a comprehensive school in the 70s & I attended university. First of my family's generation to do so. I have taught in 4 comprehensive schools: 3 in England and 1 in Wales.
Recently I have learned a great deal about the Finnish education system and I believe we all have a lot to learn from the Finns.

Education is necessary to help evolve and transform the world. What Gove and his - to coin your phrase - "useful idiots" are doing is to replicate what they know and to regress education back into the past where social division, learning by rote and soul destroying levels of discipline conspire to dispel any curiosity or questioning of the status quo as applied by an overly authoritarian government.

It's to entertain Michael Gove in a SIMS type way of course. Isn't that obvious?
