We have just learned that Rivendale has formally withdrawn its bid to open a free school in Hammersmith and Fulham.
Since the very vocal opposition to placing the free school within 150m of a good local primary, Rivendale has looked into another local building but was unable to procure it or fit a school within its confines. Since that time around last March, things have seemed relatively quiet.
This is an example of parent power in action. The Administration likes to exemplify parent power through use of the free schools programme to meet perceived needs for education - in this case, parent power succeeded in protecting what it values about a good comprehensive primary school.

Absolutely - well done for persisting and for succeeding in your demonstration that 'desire' is not the same as 'need'.
