Inspired by Policy Exchange: ‘Imagine there’s some data…’

Janet Downs's picture
Imagine there’s some data
To make your story fly
But no firm evidence
However much you try
Imagine all the numbers
Spinning round and round…

Imagine there’re some figures
They are not hard to find
They may be small in number
And not the correct kind
Imagine correlation
Pass it off as cause…

You may say I’m a cynic
But I’m not the only one
When supportive research
Coincides with Cameron

Imagine weak analysis
Pass it off as strong
No need to check conclusions
Or worry if it’s wrong
Imagine all the media
Sharing all the spin…

You may say I’m a cynic
But I’m not the only one
When supportive ‘research’
Coincides with Cameron

Inspired by the Policy Exchange Report, Rising Tide: The Competitive Benefits of Free Schools.
With thanks, and apologies, to the late John Lennon.

John - while it would be great if a band could play it on U-Tube, it may violate copyright laws about using music. Copyright allows parodies (I checked) but I think using the music may be a violation. Pity.
