Someone sent me this short film
today about girls' education in Pakistan, which the Taliban is trying to extinguish in order to further its dangerous, regressive political ends. I couldn't help thinking about my own daughter- travelling freely in a pre university gap year after a rich and fulfilling education at our local girls' comprehensive , Parliament Hill School,
which educates local young women from a wide range of ethnic and social backgrounds very successfully.
For all that we complain about education policy, unfairness , funding and political interference in schools in this country, it is worth remembering that our daughters are lucky to have so many opportunities open to them, when in other parts of the world doors are being closed and chances taken away.
