I just noticed a FOIA response on the Hammersmith and Fulham FoIA website about Secondary intakes.
For secondary schools in H&F, what percentage of entrants were:
below Level 4 in English
below level 4 in Maths
Below level 4 in English and Maths combined?
The answer (of those with KS2 results available), in percent arranged as : Did not Achieve 4+ Maths, Did not Achieve 4+ Maths, Did not Achieve 4+ combined.
Burlington Danes (Academy): 17.5, 16.9, 24.7
Fulham Cross (LA): 13.0, 21.7, 23.5
Hammersmith Academy (Academy): 13.4, 12.6, 17.6
Henry Compton (LA): 21.4, 23.8, 33.3
Hurlingham/Chelsea (LA): 25.5, 31.9, 40.4
Lady Margaret (All Girls - VA - consulting on Academy status ) - 2.8, 6.5, 7.4
London Oratory (Academy):2.8, 4.5, 5.7
Phoenix (LA): 24.4, 23.8, 33.9
Sacred Heart (All Girls - VA - just converted Academy): 1.8, 3.5, 4.2
WLFS (Academy/Free): 4.6, 10.2, 11.1
On this score Burlington Danes and Hammersmith Academy are far more representative of the local community/comparable to those local schools who admit all than is WLFS.
I know WLFS did not do its own admissions - HF did - but I am very curiou as to how this is so 'off' compared to local schools...
I am sure that when this cohort reaches 'league table competition' stage there will be a lot of 'look at how being an academy/free school improves your standards' slosh thrown around - but let this stand as a part of the record.
