How can free schools so confidently promise small class sizes unless they are getting better funding?

The latest free school to promise small class sizes is the former New Labour advisor's free school in Newham, Newham School 21. What I don't understand is how so many free schools can promise smaller class sizes unless they've been promised better funding than your average state school -- or are paying their staff less money, in which case how can they attract the top teachers that they're all promising?

I think it's time free schoolers came clean about this one, even if they are Labour supporters!

Why don't you just ring Peter Hyman and ask him?
