Former Conservative minister for Skills, Further Education and Lifelong Learning, John Hayes (now fighting wind farms at the energy and climate change department) enjoyed a fish supper with the National Union of Teachers (NUT) at this year’s Conservative conference at Birmingham.

Hayes, who is an honorary member of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), described the trade union movement as a “progressive force for good and social justice”. He also praised educators because they were “the fuel for our future”.

Let’s hope that Education secretary, Michael Gove, doesn’t take Hayes too literally and encourage the burning of heretic teachers at the stake.

Janet.

Energy crisis. What energy crisis? Why build windmills when there are so many heretic teachers to become the burning turning 'Catherine Wheels'?

Poor John Heyes. Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire jobwise....
