Channel 4 has checked Mr Gove’s maths and found he’s at the bottom of the class. He said in the debate on EMA that pupils would be better off. Channel 4 looked at his figures and found they won’t be.
Andy Burnham said “In typical Gove fashion, as with school sport, he has taken a successful scheme [the EMA] – applauded by the IFS – and turned it into a shambles. It’s always the same – snap decisions, no consultation and no grip on the detail.”
The sad thing is that I am not surprised. I assume that everything Mr Gove says is suspect. As Andy Burnham said in the debate:
"It is becoming ever clearer that this is a Secretary of State out of his depth - who has not worked out the difference between being a journalist and being a Minister, and whose shortcomings have been cruelly exposed in office. His transformation is indeed a remarkable one-from the Tory golden boy to the coalition Mr Bean."
Andy Burnham's assessment of Gove is spot on. He knows nothing about education and is spectacularly incompetent. The nation's children deserve better. Send him an abacus.

Are you surprised Janet? But can anyone tell me if he is just shambolic or all this is deliberate smoke screen to hide something more more worrying?
