The news from John Hopper looks good, but doesn’t match the Addendum document. The list of included languages on p3 shows only Hindi 2nd language as counting – there’s no mention of Urdu or any other community language. If they are subsumed in the first bullet point (GCSEs in Modern Foreign Languages including Welsh and Welsh as a 2nd language), it would be good to say so. It looks as though they are not as the document stands.

Also, Applied French and Applied Welsh 2nd language don’t count, according to the document. Biblical Hebrew makes the list, so I suppose we should be thankful for small mercies!

It would be nice to get consistent messages from the DfE.
