Serious disquiet about the Bedford and Kempston Free School

The community in Bedford appear very worried about the impact the new Bedford and Kempston Free school will have on neighbouring schools and the whole admissions processes there. It appears that the setting up of the school has been very rushed with a tiny fraction of the community -- less than one percent -- wanting the school. At the heart of the worries for the community are the ways in which a privileged elite will grab all the resources for their children, leaving children in neighbouring schools with poorer resources and a less mixed intake. Furthermore, the whole process of setting up the school appears to be very opaque with it being very unclear who will benefit financially by getting contracts to run the school.
